This first week has been an exciting one. The NFL season started out with last year’s Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots, losing 42-27 Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs  were led by the astounding NFL debut of RB Kareem Hunt. Hunt ran for 148 yards on 17 carries, running in 1 touchdown and receiving 2 more. No doubt this was an amazing rookie performance on Hunt’s part.

Another game of importance was the Steelers Browns game. While the Steelers still won 21-18, rookie QB DeShone Kizer showed great promise, throwing for 220 yards and 1 touchdown. Kizer might be the quarterback the Browns need to become a decent team.

The Jaguars proved to have a formidable defense this week, holding the Texans to 7 points and gaining 28 fantasy points for teams in most leagues. The Jaguars returned one fumble for a touchdown, while forcing 2 others.

Another great defense this week was the LA Rams’ defense. Scoring 2 pick-6’s, they held a Luck-less Colts to 9 points. 3 fumbles were also forced by the Rams, but they only recovered one.

One of the more exciting matchups this week was the Seahawks playing Green Bay at Lambeau.  Rodgers led the Packers with over 300 yards and a touchdown. Another highlight of the game was when BYU RB Jamaal Williams got 2 carries for 9 yards, in his first NFL game.

Lastly, we had the Monday Night game of the Broncos and the Chargers, both with new head coaches. The Broncos were in charge the whole night, but the Chargers staged a late game comeback in the 4th quarter. But, the Broncos blocked a tying field goal with five seconds left in the game, pulling out the win 24-21.

So no doubt, this week has been an exciting one. Hopefully next week will be just as fun.
